A former antiques warehouse in the 15th district is currently being put to interim use. The minciospace_ project offers communal rooms, a multi-purpose hall for activities such as music or theater rehearsals, yoga, art therapy, studios and much more.

Networking, exchange and dialog, as well as dealing with socially relevant topics, are important cornerstones of this. The dedicated team at Interspace Arts GmbH transformed the building at Miniciostrasse 17 in the 15th district into an important space for collaborative, creative processes. Since January 2022, regular working group meetings have been held with musicians from the independent scene to develop a utilization concept for the future project.

The building was erected in 1870 as an ammunition store and horse stable and has served as an antiques warehouse in recent decades. There was also a period in between when the exact use of the building is unknown. Once the core team of the GmbH had found the building in Miciostrasse after an intensive search, it was purchased in January 2021 and the concept was quickly implemented.

A project by artists for artists

The aim of the project, which was developed by artists for artists, is to create an affordable, low-threshold space for ensembles and individual artists, to strengthen exchange within the scene and to offer extended concert formats. The minciospace_ association will rent 100% of the building, use it for rehearsals, networking and exchange and also offer a diverse yoga and mental health program.

Focus on socially relevant topics

In future, artistic development is to be structurally promoted and a place for transdisciplinary discourse in relation to art, society and science is to be created. The idea of “repairing the future” will take center stage in all aspects. The aim is to combine social participation, social change and cultural work. Artists who wish to work here can choose the type of association membership that best suits their needs. The rental includes a bundle of services that covers operating costs, some personnel costs, internet, equipment, etc.

Big plans for the future

After the interim use phase, the project is set to become a long-term space for artistic work and development with a focus on socially relevant topics from spring 2025. The sampospace_ group practice has already opened. A concert hall with around 150 m² and a capacity of 120 people on the upper floor, studio and rehearsal rooms between 18 m² and 140 m², as well as production studios including professional recording facilities are planned. There are also plans for a 50 m² kitchen and a community room for communal exchanges.
