Every year in November, the international event puts Vienna’s diverse art scene in the spotlight. For the fourth time in the history of Vienna Art Week, an abandoned building has become the festival’s headquarters and main exhibition.
Head office: House of Inciting Passion
The vacant building with around 1,000m2 on three floors in the 15th district became an exhibition space as part of the art week. Kreative Räume Wien is supporting Vienna Art Week for the third time in a row: while in the last two years it was mainly a matter of organizing events in the respective vacant buildings, this year we were also able to help with finding space.
Vacant buildings offer festival formats and participating artists the right space for experimental formats and unusual spaces. The building most recently housed a print shop, businesses on the second floor and small apartments on the second floor. The curatorial team explored the space weeks in advance and, together with internationally renowned and up-and-coming artists from the Viennese art scene, set the space in relation to the artworks. At the center of this was an important question: “What’s your passion?

Art spaces: Open Studio Days
The Open Studio Days on the opening weekend were also very popular, with almost 20 guided walks and tours leading to numerous studios of the 50 selected artists. In addition, many participants offered activities such as workshops, artist talks and performances under the motto “Pass on your passion”, which gave visitors in-depth insights into artistic practice.

In the name of passion: Creative Spaces Vienna partner of Vienna Art Week 2023
Vienna Art Week attracted around 30,000 visitors in total and once again demonstrated how lively, diverse and internationally networked the Viennese art scene is. Kreative Räume Wien supported the art week in November as a partner for the third time.
With the ‘House of Inciting Passion’, Vienna Art Week, together with Kreative Räume Wien and the owners of the building Avoris Immobilien, found a suitable location for the festival week’s headquarters in 2023. We would like to thank them for the excellent cooperation.
