Kreative Räume Wien is a service centre commissioned by the City of Vienna to deal with issues relating to the activation of vacant properties and temporary use. Among other things, Kreative Räume Wien supports people looking for space, advises property owners and accompanies projects.
We are often approached by people from the arts, culture, creative industries and social services who are looking for affordable premises for their projects.
However, we do not have any premises ourselves and are therefore unable to provide any.
We are happy to assist you in finding your space independently and provide tips and tricks on:

In addition to regularly renting new commercial space and studios, it may also be an option to join ongoing projects. Kreative Räume Wien also connects with existing co-working spaces and music rehearsal rooms.

During in-depth exploratory tours, vacant commercial premises in particular quickly catch the eye. Online platforms for finding space
Wiener Wohnen: Vacant commercial premises and storage rooms
There are almost two thousand municipal buildings in Vienna, home to around 500,000 people. In addition to municipal housing, there are also around 5,000 commercial premises, 47,500 garages and parking spaces that can be rented from the City of Vienna’s Wiener Wohnen housing association.
Wiener Wohnen offers affordable premises in Vienna’s municipal housing estates. There are no estate agent fees for brokering these properties, which are generally let on a permanent basis.
Freie Lokale (Vacant premises): The location service of the Vienna Economic Chamber
Freie Lokale is the location service of the Vienna Economic Chamber. The online database lists vacant commercial premises in Vienna. Freie Lokale also offers helpful webinars on topics such as “business facility permits”, “food trucks”, “catering” and “finding premises”, provides advice on various location options and supports users with location analyses.
Note: Membership of the WKO is not required to create an account for the portal. Freie Lokale also offers free personal consultations on choosing a location.
ImGrätzl.at: Platform for self-employed persons, sole proprietorships, local creators
imGrätzl.at is a platform for self-employed people, local businesses, associations and cultural workers, offering users a whole range of services. Cooperating, sharing, exchanging – new forms of collaboration and community are at the heart of the platform.
One of the platform’s services is the room divider: as a kind of flat share search for workspaces, business premises, workshops, offices, rehearsal rooms, practices, studios and ateliers, it connects people looking for space with those who have space available.

IG Freie Theaterarbeit: the rehearsal room platform
IG Freie Theaterarbeit works as an interest group and network for theatre, dance and performance artists. IG Freie Theaterarbeit’s platform for searching for spaces makes it easier to find rehearsal rooms (german: Proberäume). It is also possible to offer spaces yourself.
VCC Radar: An overview of Vienna’s music venues
The Vienna Club Commission (VCC) acts as a service and mediation interface on behalf of the City of Vienna and the Vienna Business Agency for Vienna’s club and event scene.
In its VCC Radar tool, the Vienna Club Commission provides an overview of Vienna’s music venues for DJ club nights, concerts and other cultural events. You can find venues for events as well as rehearsal rooms.
