The ‘Creatives for Vienna – Making Spaces’ competition is entering its final spurt, the ‘Wild im West’ vacant building project is starting a second round in spring and the ground-breaking ceremony for the new F23 in Liesing. Creatives for Vienna: Submit until next week!<\/h3>\n\n

Concepts can still be submitted until Wednesday, February 15, 2023, as part of the ‘Creatives for Vienna’ competition. Under the motto ‘Making Spaces’, the Vienna Business Agency is inviting entries for the development and further development of spaces for creative uses. 10 projects can win, the winning concepts will each receive prize money of 15,000 euros. <\/p>\n\n

In addition to its own rooms, four additional rooms are being advertised for use as part of this competition, for which concepts can be developed and submitted.<\/p>\n\n

Those interested in submitting a project can receive free advice <\/a>and networking with potential project partners through the Kreative R\u00e4ume Wien.<\/p>\n\n

Wow, how time flies: Back in December, the district newspaper visited the colorful vacant lot development and interim use of Wild im West – together with us and the owners of the space. Fortunately, we can now once again announce this to everyone in Rudolfsheim-F\u00fcnfhaus and beyond: The project will enter a second season in April. <\/a> <\/p>\n\n

We are really looking forward to spring and congratulate the great team behind this fantastic project!<\/p>\n\n

F23: Groundbreaking ceremony in Liesing <\/h3>\n\n

It will take a little longer, but then the F23 – after the renovation – will be back in a big way. Launched as an interim use, the F23 cultural initiative did a great job in the former coffin factory in Breitenfurter Stra\u00dfe from 2015 to 2021. Now the large factory is being renovated and converted and the entire neighborhood is being developed. <\/p>\n\n

The factory was built between 1913 and 1916 as the “Maschinen-, Kisten- und Holzwarenfabrik M. Koffmahn” according to plans by Hubert Gessner, a student of Otto Wagner. In 1966, the Stadtwerke took over the building and adapted it for coffin production, which was closed in 2013. <\/p>\n\n

Of the initial 40,000m\u00b2, the listed part of the factory has been left standing in 2022 and will be renovated – probably by 2024. In the meantime, however, the cultural initiative in Vienna’s southernmost district is not bored: the team performs on an empty floor in the post office on Liesinger Platz and in the salon right next to the factory on Breitenfurterstra\u00dfe. The declared aim of F23 is to make art and culture possible and tangible in all its forms, while always keeping the social component in mind. <\/p>\n\n
